My journey shows that investing resources in refugee girls' programming can disrupt cycles of poverty and lead to safety, education, and empowerment.
It not only changes their lives individually, but also amplifies their collective resilience, solidarity and ambition. With resources at their disposal, refugee girls can do anything.
I hope you will join me on this journey to make their dreams come true".

Launching our pilot model
Refugee Can Be offers a field-tested, refugee-led approach to girls’ education, protection, and empowerment. Our model combines safe housing, trauma-informed support, academic intervention, and global mentorship. We offer a replicable model for serving displaced girls, a committed network of youth tutors and global volunteers, and research-based programming grounded in the lived experiences of refugee communities.
Our pilot model is based on two tracks:
the Success at Home track, that allows refugee girls to access education and support in the refugee camp, and
our New Horizons track, that works to bring the best students into top quality schools in Kampala, offering them a safe house and support system all the way to graduation.
This pilot model is going to be officially launched September 15, 2025. We are prioritizing the launch of our second track, New Horizons. Here's our timeline:
